Who provides the service
ZTrack Insight is developed by ZTS Software Solution. Global Tracking Technology provides GPS services to its customers and is the contact for customer accounts, service enquiries and privacy requests.
Accounts are created and managed by Global Tracking Technology for authorised users of customer organisations. Users sign in with credentials supplied by the service team; they do not create their own accounts in the app. Your company and its administrators determine which fleet information your account can access.
Information involved in the service
- Account and sign-in information: username, name, user identifiers, selected server and authentication or session details used to sign in and maintain access.
- Fleet information: vehicle identifiers, positions, status, trip history, alerts and fuel information where supplied by your devices and enabled for your service.
- Notification details: push-notification identifiers, device platform, app version and related registration information used to deliver vehicle alerts.
- Map and technical information: map requests, IP address, device and app information, service-specific identifiers and diagnostic information processed by the integrated services described below.
- Support correspondence: the contact details and information you choose to send when requesting help.
Vehicle tracking information comes from the connected GPS service and describes the vehicles in your assigned fleet.
How information is used
The service uses information to authenticate users, show the fleet assigned to their account, display maps, tracking and reporting information, deliver enabled alerts and respond to support requests. Integrated providers also process technical information to operate and maintain their services, as described below.
How information is protected
HTTPS connections encrypt information in transit. Older ZTrack Insight releases, including Android version code 20, may permit unencrypted HTTP connections depending on the configured server and Android version. Users should use an HTTPS server address. The updated Android build prepared for release (version code 21) enforces HTTPS for connections to the configured GPS server. It has not yet replaced the published version.
The mobile app stores saved sign-in information using the device’s secure-storage facilities.
Access to fleet information is controlled through sign-in credentials and account permissions. Deactivated accounts have no active access privileges. Keep your credentials private and tell the service team when someone’s access needs to change. Never send your password in a support or privacy request.
Services used by the application
ZTrack Insight uses the following services for fleet access, maps and notifications:
- GPS service: the configured GPS server processes sign-in details, account identifiers and requests for your assigned fleet information to authenticate access and provide tracking, reports and alerts.
- Google Maps: provides map display in the single-vehicle Follow and history views. Its map service processes map requests and technical information such as IP address, device and software information, diagnostic data and a service-specific identifier. Depending on the map features used, it may also process interactions such as panning and zooming. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap: provides map images for the Standard option in the fleet-wide map. Requests to its map servers include the requested map area, IP address and technical request details, such as device or browser information. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
- OpenTopoMap: provides terrain map tiles in the fleet-wide map. Requests disclose the requested map area, IP address and technical request information to the map service. See OpenTopoMap’s service information and provider contact details for privacy enquiries.
- Esri: provides satellite and aerial imagery used by the fleet-wide Satellite and Hybrid map options. Requests disclose the requested map area, IP address and technical request information to the imagery service. See Esri’s Privacy Statement and Products & Services Privacy Statement Supplement.
- Map-library delivery: the fleet-wide map loads display-library files from UNPKG. These file requests transmit the device’s IP address and technical download information to the delivery service.
- ZTS Map: receives vehicle coordinates to return readable location names.
- Expo push notifications and Firebase Cloud Messaging: process notification identifiers, including device registration or installation identifiers, and notification content to deliver enabled alerts. Our GPS service also receives the device platform and app version during notification registration. See Expo’s push-notification information and Firebase’s privacy information.
External providers may process requests outside Ethiopia through their service infrastructure. Their privacy information explains their own processing and retention practices.
Retention and deletion
Company-managed accounts: when an employee leaves or no longer requires access, Global Tracking Technology deactivates their account. The account record remains stored in a dormant state with no active access privileges. Dormant account records are not automatically deleted as part of deactivation.
Other service records: deactivating an individual account does not automatically erase the organisation’s vehicle history. Retention of vehicle history, notification registrations, support records and backups is handled separately according to the customer’s service arrangement and applicable legal obligations. Contact Global Tracking Technology for information about these records.
Privacy and deletion requests: you can request access, correction or deletion of your personal information using the contact details below. Requests to delete stored account information are reviewed separately from requests to deactivate access. The team verifies the account and explains what will be deleted, any information that needs to be retained, the reason for retention and the applicable retention period. See Account & Privacy Requests for the request process.
Removing a saved login from a phone does not deactivate or delete the server account or erase the company’s vehicle history.
